Elon Musk, the billionaire who purchased Twitter last October, announced on Friday that verified content creators will be paid for ads in their replies. The first payment block of approximately $5 million is expected to take place soon. It’s important to note that only ads served to verified users count towards this initiative.

After the layoff of thousands of employees, advertisers have been hesitant about the placement of their ads on Twitter, leading to a struggle for the platform in retaining them since Tesla CEO Musk acquired it.
Twitter’s appointment of Linda Yaccarino as its new CEO, a veteran in advertising from NBCUniversal, coincides with this move. She is set to take over the helm at the social media platform soon.
Musk stated in March that Twitter makes roughly 5 or 6 cents per hour of user attention on the messaging service. He also mentioned that this could potentially increase to 15 cents or more by incorporating more relevant and timely advertisements.
